Hello, world! The HIVEMIND project held its official kick-off meeting in Seville, Spain, marking the start of a three-year collaboration between research institutions, universities, and industry partners. Hosted by the project coordinator IDENER, the two-day meeting brought together representatives from the 13 organisations involved. Discussions focused on aligning goals, setting expectations, and agreeing on the immediate next steps for each area of work.

Aligning perspectives and priorities
A key part of the meeting was the presentation of the project’s work packages. Each partner outlined their area of responsibility, providing a structured overview of how the different technical and strategic components of HIVEMIND will fit together.
Presentations began with a focus on project management, ethics, and architecture design, followed by the roadmap for dissemination and impact. The technical core of the project was also introduced, including how HIVEMIND will approach human-AI collaboration through a multi-agent system and large language model customisation.
The project’s architecture is designed to support AI agents that can actively assist human developers in tasks such as software specification, programming, testing, and long-term maintenance. Partners shared their early plans for developing this system and how it will be validated in real-world environments.
Coordination across disciplines and countries
The kick-off was also an opportunity for partners to align on practical aspects of the collaboration. From data workflows and smart system specification to AI-powered code generation, the agenda covered the full scope of activities that will define the HIVEMIND framework.
Sessions were structured to encourage knowledge exchange between partners, promoting a coherent and collaborative approach from the outset. A dynamic hands-on activity helped illustrate how the different work packages and tasks interconnect, fostering mutual understanding and creating a strong foundation for cross-WP collaboration.
The meeting concluded with a shared timeline and agreement on the next milestones, setting the pace for the upcoming months. Networking opportunities also allowed partners to connect and strengthen collaboration for the project.
Next steps
Following the kick-off, the consortium begins its technical implementation, with initial efforts focused on requirements collection, use case analysis, and data preparation. Each partner now moves into execution mode, building on the coordination established during the meeting.
The HIVEMIND project will provide ongoing updates through its social media channels and future publications. Keep an eye out for more developments!
