“We want to help Europe become an innovation hub for the application of generative AI and general-purpose AI in software engineering — in a trustworthy and ethical manner.”
— Daniel García, Coordinator of the HIVEMIND project
In this short interview, Daniel García from idener.ai talks about coordinating the HIVEMIND project, an initiative that brings together artificial intelligence and software engineering to tackle real industrial challenges. He explains idener’s role, what the team brings to the table, and why responsible AI development is more crucial than ever.

This is Daniel García, and I am an artificial intelligence researcher working at Idener, as a project coordinator and an interim team manager on artificial intelligence.
We are the coordinators of the project, and we are executing several tasks across the whole project, including requirements identification, customisation of large language models, and development of AI-based agents. And, of course, ensuring smooth execution through technical, administrative, and financial coordination of the whole project.
How does your expertise contribute to the objectives of HIVEMIND?
We have a long track record of participation in European projects, and also in coordination, with more than 25 projects coordinated so far. That ensures we have proper project execution. We also have great expertise in data and machine learning model lifecycle management, so that we can provide the necessary infrastructure to develop the project’s objectives. We have a streamlined approach to artificial intelligence research, facilitating and accelerating the process of research, prototyping, testing, and validation of new ideas.
What excites you most about being part of the project?
We are having the chance to address real issues in the industry, in the software development chain, and we are using generative AI technologies to do that. That enables us to stay at the edge of innovation and avoid falling behind the big advancements we are witnessing in the global landscape these days.
What impact do you expect HIVEMIND to have on industry and society?
I believe that HIVEMIND will definitely help close the technology gap that exists in emerging and language technologies between the tech giants and the rest.
We want to help Europe become an innovation hub for the application of generative AI and general-purpose AI in software engineering, in a trustworthy and ethical manner. We believe the industry can greatly benefit from these advances, but it must be done in a way that boosts confidence in this technology, which is something that is very much needed. And this, of course, applies to overall public acceptance, the overall societal acceptance of generative AI, which is a very relevant matter these days.
